Tips for Building Social Network Followers – LinkedIn

Thousands of companies around the world, big and small, are using Social Networks to their benefit. For corporations and businesses focused on networking, LinkedIn can be a strong tool to expand your Social sphere and grow your business.

Here are a few tips to help you build your LinkedIn following:

Connect Your Social Network Pages:  Utilize your other Social Networks to spread the word about your LinkedIn page. Put a link to it in your Twitter and Facebook profiles. The benefit of this is that LinkedIn is seen as a “professional hub”. Someone who isn’t interested in seeing your Pinterest boards might pay more attention to you LinkedIn profile.

Link Your Email:  Don’t forget to use your email to spread information about your LinkedIn page.  Just add it to your automated signature.

Connecting to Contacts: LinkedIn can help you expand your online network by searching through your email and Facebook contacts. Invite as many people to contact with you as possible, your employees included.

Join Groups or Create Your Own:  There are lots of discussions that take place on LinkedIn. Get involved in the conversation and if you have something interesting to say you’ll start grabbing people’s attention. You might even make a few more connections.

Consistent Messaging:  You want people who visit to have a clear idea of what it is you do. Don’t give mixed messages and make sure everything is as professional looking as possible. Provide links to your website and show off your company portfolio.

Stay Active and Update Regularly: This isn’t Facebook so you don’t really want to tell everyone about your journey in to work this morning. But people will want to hear about anything new that’s happening at your company. Just hired someone new? Publicly welcome them on to the team and if they have a profile of their own, link people to it.

Building a base of followers on any Social Network can take time but it’s important to keep at it. Eventually your hard work will pay off and your business will see the benefits.
