YouTube, the video sharing website, can be a great tool for a small business to attract new customers. By offering entertainment, showing yourself as a knowledgeable specialist, or offering content that is unique and engaging, you can bring a whole new group of clients to your business.
Branding: When using YouTube it’s important to spend time on your profile. Use your logo as your avatar and make your main page presentable. When writing the description of your channel, describe your business as well as the content you plan on uploading on to it and make sure your channel is under the correct category.
Quality Content: Content is key. If you’re making a YouTube account make sure to provide original quality content. Be creative with what you put on there. If you’re an expert in your field then maybe you could make “how to” demonstrations or discuss a certain topic that is not only interesting, but relevant.
A video that has something to offer beyond a simple advert is far more likely to be watched and liked. If the video is interesting or entertaining enough, chances are the viewer will come back for more.
Comments: One important choice to make when uploading a video is whether or not to allow comments. For some, the comments provide an excellent way to talk with other people and answer questions. However the comments on YouTube are notorious for people “Trolling” and an overabundance of negative comments might give others the wrong impression. It is a decision that’s worth thinking about. If you wish to try with them to begin with, comments can always be removed at a later date.
Frequency: It’s also a good idea to upload regularly. This doesn’t necessarily mean every day; there are YouTubers making a living by posting one video every two weeks. Decide on a realistic schedule and stick with it so that returning viewers aren’t disappointed.
Be Social: As with other Social Networks, it’s important to be social with others. Find channels of similar content and take part in discussions. Spend time liking other videos and subscribing to channels. It will help to put your name out there and if done right, improve your reputation.
Building a base of followers on any Social Network can take time but it’s important to keep at it. Eventually your hard work will pay off and your business will see the benefits!
